Capabilities
Ask Highlight a question
Use @Highlight in any thread to ask a question. Highlight reads the full thread context — the original message, replies, and any attachments — and responds inline.
> Example: Someone posts "What did we decide about the new onboarding flow?" and a few people reply. You type @Highlight what did we decide here? and Highlight summarizes the thread's conclusion directly in the thread.
Draft and run actions
Ask Highlight to take action based on what's being discussed. Highlight will draft the action and show it inline for you to review before anything runs.
> Example: Your team posts "We're building feature X." You type @Highlight create a PRD in Notion for this — Highlight drafts the action, you approve it, and it runs.
You can also edit a draft before running it — just reply with what you'd like changed. Highlight will discard the old draft and post an updated one.
Create reminders
Ask Highlight to remind you about anything from a thread. Reminders are shown only to you.
> Example: Someone asks "Can someone review this doc?" You reply @Highlight remind me about this — Highlight creates a reminder tied to that message. You can mark it done or dismiss it directly from Slack.
You can also trigger a reminder by reacting to a message with a configured emoji — set this up in /highlight settings.
DMs and group DMs
Everything you can do in a channel works in DMs too. Send a message directly to @Highlight to start a conversation, ask questions, draft actions, or manage reminders.
Reminder notifications
When a reminder is due, Highlight sends you a DM with the reminder details. You can mark it resolved or dismiss it directly from the notification.
Run workflows with emoji reactions
Configure specific emoji reactions to trigger Highlight workflows. When you react to a message with a configured emoji, Highlight kicks off the associated workflow automatically.
Set this up in /highlight settings under Emoji triggers.
Settings
Type /highlight settings in any channel to open the Highlight settings panel. From here you can:
- Turn reminder notifications on or off
- Configure emoji triggers for workflows
