Connecting Google Drive (Google Docs)
Last updated: August 31, 2026
Connect Google Drive so Highlight can browse and search your files, bringing your docs, spreadsheets, and slides into your workflow.
Set up the integration
Open Highlight and go to Settings.
In the left sidebar, under Connections, select Integrations.
Under Add Integrations, find Google Drive and click the + button on its card.
A Google sign-in window opens. Sign in to the account you want to connect.
Review the access Highlight requests, then click Approve (or Allow).
You'll be returned to Highlight automatically. Google Drive now appears under Active Integrations.
During sign-in, Google may ask which account or files to share. Choose the content you want Highlight to access, then confirm.
What you can do once connected
Search across the files you've shared.
Reference Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides as context for your work.
Heads up: If your account is managed by an employer (a work or enterprise plan), an administrator may need to approve Highlight before you can connect. If you see an “approval required” message, see Integrations and Admin Approval for what to send your admin. |
Manage or disconnect
Open the ⋮ menu on the Google Drive card under Active Integrations to adjust shared files, reconnect, or remove the integration.
